Our
Purpose
How it works:
- The League is composed of six teams consisting of
members 30 years of age or older with only 6 riders competing for
points and up to three alternate
riders whose points do not affect team standings.
- Shows are typically held on Sundays. Shows will likely be held in November, December, January and February with the Finale scheduled for March. An awards banquet will be held in March or April at a central location selected by the League Board.
- League meets rotate between host barns; and with the exception of the finale meet, riders must ride the school horses provided by the host barn. Teams trailer their own school horses to the NCAEL finale.
- Classes are judged on equitation. Meets consist of four flat classes (two walk/trot, two walk/trot/canter), two over-fences classes (four and six fences), and a finale combination class (each team providing two riders selected by random draw). Additionally, there are flat and over-fences alternates’ classes.
- Coaches match horses to riders by random draw before the show starts. Riders receive a 2 minute warm-up on the flat and are allowed 2 warm-up fences before doing their course of fences. Riders may use their own saddles on most horses at most barns. Each barn is responsible for refreshments and beverages at their horse shows.
Requirements:
- Riders must be at least 30 years of age (unless waived) as of October 1st . There is no upper age limit.
- Riders may not have shown in any class at any real show in the past 5 years where fence heights exceed 2'9". This restriction does not only apply to rated shows, but schooling shows as well (such as the Maryland Saddle Association Series).
- Riders must be enrolled in weekly lessons as of October 1st.
